Do you offer funding or accept Tax Free Childcare?

Yes!  For our nursery children we offer funded places of 15 or 30 hours, subject to you meeting the eligibility criteria. 

We also accept payments via Tax Free Childcare.  Please see the link above for more information and get in touch with us.

When are you open?

For our nursery children we open term times 9am — 3pm with half and full day sessions available.  We also offer wrap around care from 8.30am to 6pm.

For our school age children from Westoe Crown Primary School we offer Breakfast Club from 7.45am to the start of the school day and after school care from the end of the school day to 6pm.  For children from St Bedes Primary School, South Shields we offer after school care from the end of the school day to 6pm.

How much are sessions and how do I book?

What meals and snacks are offered?

At nursery, children attending a morning session have a morning snack and milk, children attending a full day have a morning snack and milk, lunch and an afternoon snack and milk.  Nursery children attending wrap around care also have a light tea.

Breakfast Club children are offered toast and fruit before school.  Children who attend after school care have a light tea.

Drinking water is available to all children throughout the day.

Where is Whizz Kids?

We are centrally located in South Shields town centre, right next door to the Town Hall.

Are Whizz Kids Staff experienced and qualified?

Yes!  All our staff are very experienced in working with children and hold relevant qualifications.  Staff and volunteers participate regularly in childcare related training including Safeguarding and First Aid.  All staff have undergone required and stringent recruitment procedures including DBS.

Are you registered with Ofsted?

Yes.  We have regular inspections from Ofsted.  Our latest inspection was in November 2022 and we received OUTSTANDING!  You can click the link on our Ofsted page to read our latest report.
